Downtown on Sunday Twilight daily oil painting

6"x6" oil on masonite board. I loved the cool grays cast from the buildings as the sun went down, last Sunday evening. It was such a contrast from the setting sun. It made for a fun oil study of shapes more than detail.

Fish Market Chappels Restaurant Haunted daily painting Carol Lombard

6"x6" oil on masonite. Some restaurants have great atmosphere and ambiance. This little place is one of them. It is Chappels located on Broadway. One of my favorite details is the big rustic red snapper sign that hangs in the window. Soon they will be putting tables and umbrellas out on the patio for fine summer dining. It is even said that the ghost of Carol Lombard visits. She used to frequent this building when it used to be a soda fountain. Now that's some ambiance!

Sunlit Interior daily painting oil abstract impression

    sold
6"x6" oil on masonite. "A Cozy Nook" This sundrenched room had almost an abstract feel to it. I wanted to simplify the detailed room and capture the shapes of the sunlight and how it affected the interior.

"Chinese Take Out" urban daily oil painting Impressionism

    sold
6"x6" oil on masonite. Another "outside looking in" piece. Mmmm...Standing outside of this tiny little Chinese take out, on a cold night is torture. The smell of ginger and sesame wafted out into the dark night. The only thing that got me through this was the thought of getting Hot and Sour Soup and Garlic Chicken!

Artwork Kitchen Interior ~ daily oil painting

6"x6" oil on masonite. We redid our kitchen a couple years ago. New floor, new glass top stove, new counters, I sanded and painted the existing cabinets a lovely color of real butter(4 coats, which I told my husband, I will never have it in me to do that again!!) One thing we haven't replaced was the circa '60's Sears Kenmore oven. Don't get me wrong, it needs replaced for sure, the door seal is shot and the paint is chipped here and there and I am sure it is not very efficient. Someday we will replace it. Even though, it still "fits" in okay with the look of the kitchen. It has a sort of charm about it, if that is possible. I think it is fun and funny sometimes what we artists feel inclined to capture in paint.

Happy Birthday Cake Children Impressionism Painting

6"x6" oil on masonite. My daughter recently celebrated a birthday. I like how the candles illuminated the children's faces in the darkness. Of course, I didn't paint this "Kodak moment" live. Enjoy your Sunday!

"Happenin' Place" Urban Interior everyday painting

    sold
6"x6" oil on masonite. On a cold night this eatery had a warm interior that beckoned. I loved the lines and warm hues. My goal was to capture those lines and welcoming feel of this cafe. Of course, I had to run in and get a hot coffee and a croissant.

"Lonely Road" Snow Sunset Driving daily oil painting

    sold
6"x6" oil on masonite. I loved how the the headlights made the snowy road glow, yet, paling to the sunset up ahead. There is something very theraputic about driving down a country road and seeing so much sky. This painting is available, please see details at the right.
