The Gritty City Challenge Daily Painting Heidi Malott

"Nitty Gritty City"

6x6" oil on masonite

This painting challenge was presented by Daily Paintworks and fellow daily painter Robin Weiss.  She posted a very detailed photo of a city, the challenge was to paint it as loose as possible.  You can find many others renditions here:  http://www.dailypaintworks.com/challenge/the-gritty-city-challenge/283

I love seeing the variety of artist's paintings of the same subject.

Thank you Mary. This was a lot of fun. I am not so afraid of all those geometric shapes as I used to be. I used to dread them. The more I forced myself past my comfort zone the less intimidating it has become. A key that helped me was to constantly compare my lines to the edges of my panel. Sounds so simple and is now, but I had a "duh" moment when I finally remembered that simple rule. :D
