Summer Landscape Daily Paint 6x6"

6"X6" oil on masonite. Summer is my favorite time of year in the Midwest. This pasture is near my grandmother's farm. I look forward to some plein air painting on this location in the winter. But for now, I bid farewell to another beautiful summer with this painting.

Snow Flurries Frosty Landscape Daily oil Painting

6"x6" The first flurries of the season. The snow falling created a very atmoshperic almost distorted view of the trees. I love the quiet and calmness of fresh snow. Thanks for looking.

Impressionist Poplar Trees Daily Painting Landscape oil

6x6" oil on masonite

"Poplar Sway"
My grandmother's farm is lined by poplars. My grandfather planted them years ago for protection from the harsh winds out of the west, in winter. Here I was inspired from photos and memory of a perfect summer day. The poplar trees all swayed in the breeze. A sweet memory!
It amazes me how the details come together when viewing an impressionist painting from a distance.

Snow Family Portrait watercolor

sold

"Bundled Up" Not much time for painting this week - lots of Christmas shopping and school activites. I did squeeze in some time for watercolor fun. This is from a photo of my husband and kids from a day of sledding. Aren't they cute? It makes me laugh, it looks so cartoony, I should do one of these next year for our Christmas card, hmm... Thanks for looking!

Figure Girl Ballerina daily painting

Sold
6"x6" oil on masonite. I love this creative "anything goes" age! She still, really doesn't care about things that match or are just trendy. So, when I saw her out playing in the sand with this combination outfit of cowboy boots, hat and a ballerina outfit, I was not surprised. I hope she keeps a part of this free spirit always! I kept this painting fresh and unfussy with lively brushwork.

"Sloppy Eggs" still life oil painting Eggs

Sloppy Eggs

6"x6" oil on masonite. Eggs are so pretty "sunny side up" However, I like my eggs cooked a little more than that. Being impatient, I usually flip them early, making them pretty sloppy! Mmm Mmm...so much better, though. I didn't have much time to work on these eggs, but I wanted to at least try and post something for our egg day!! Thanks for looking!

by the way I did sprinkle the painting with real pepper, does that mean this is a mixed media?  :D

"Intersection" daily oil painting

6"x6" oil on masonite. sold
>

A very quiet intersection at dawn. If you check out my entry on the 23rd , I have brought up the subject of "leave it or remove it" with the utility pole. Here I definately wanted them in, sometimes it's an easier decision than other times.

"Sweet Pasture" cows daily painting

6"x6" oil on masonite. sold

I love painting cows and horses on location. I kept a "safe" distance and tried to capture the atmosphere of the cows in the distance. The city girl in me got a little nervous once when I got surrounded by about 4 curious, rather large horses that wanted to taste my paint on the palette and the peanut butter crackers in my backpack. Thanks for looking!

"Country Road" daily oil painting

Country Road

6"x6" oil on masonite. Sometimes while painting plein air you are faced decisions to include or exclude things that may or may not work with what you are trying to capture. The utility poles are a part of today's landscape. Sometimes they work well in a painting and sometimes they work against a painting.

Contemporary Tree Painting farm daily painting

"Farmer's Decision"
6"x6" oil on masonite art board.

Sometimes you will see a magnificant tree right in the middle of a field. This one near my Grandmother's farm is just that, magnificant! Years ago this farmer made the decision to share his profit-yielding land with this tree. He could have easily taken the younger tree down, years ago. What a respectful decision!

Painting Barn Impressionism

6"x6" oil on masonite. I drive by this barn almost everyday. It is located a few miles from home. I have painted it in my mind many times. Doing that, I wanted to try something different. Here, I painted this familiar scene with a palette knife.

Farm at Sunset Barn daily oil painting Fall Autumn

sold
6"x6" oil on masonite. Every year my husband's Uncle Jon has an autumn bonfire. The kids love it, they run through the woods with their cousins all day, go on hayrides and explore the winding creek. As the shadows grow longer, the sun casts the landscape in a golden light. This farm was nearby. It was so captivating in this warm glow. Thanks for looking.

Kitchen Art Painting Chili Pepper

Drying Pepper

6x6" oil on masonite. This pepper has been sitting on my kitchen window sill since the end of summer. My father-in-law gave it to me along with some other garden treasures. It was amazing to watch as the pepper transformed from a plump, rounded green to a shriveled, sharp edged pepper with reds ranging from cadmium to alizeran. Here is my tribute to this amazingly beautiful little pepper on my window sill. Thanks for looking.
