Earlier this summer we enjoyed a lovely evening of wine tasting at a friend's farm. It was simple yet elegant. I snapped pictures from the car on the way there. Months later I am finally painting from that inspring countryside.
I was feeling a little rusty after not painting for too long. However I am so excited to be back at the easel.
I know I have said this before, but after painting on the little 6 inch squared I can't get over how much bigger these 8 inch squared paintings look in comparison. I guess if you think about it a 6x6 is 36 square inches of surface area while an 8x8 is 64 square inches, so that is a considerable difference. whoa, that is about as far into math I am going to tread, haha.
I snapped this shot on a hot summer day last week. We were on our way to a swimmin' hole to cool down. I wanted to keep the feeling of the motion from cruising down the back roads in a convertible of course. So I painted this alla prima (all at once) with lively brushstrokes and bold colors of a sunny summer day.
Here we are 3 years later and I find myself varushing a few paintings. A few in this picture are still available including the "Summer Driving"
How is your July going? I am wishing things would slow down. Although I do look forward to painting again in August.
